Published 2019 by Ben Bella Books, Dallas TX “Ludicrous: The Unvarnished Story of Tesla Motors” It will not take you 14 days to read this book! Not speed-readers, we knocked it off quite enjoyably in a few hours. Musk is the living incarnation of the phrase Buyer Beware in this story.Ludicrous, by Edward Niedermeyer. If I was a Tesla shareholder, a government auto regulator or a Tesla car owner this is a comic horror movie where the so called hero is really an untrustworthy hype artistic who should not be trusted to ever tell the truth. The CC portrait he paints of Musk who is said to be Americas richest man paints him as a kind of false prophet, a Wizard of Oz behind a curtain who makes promises he will never keep at least in part simply to create the myth he is all powerful when in fact he is a man in over his head and borderline out of his mind. With craft and a lot of cold facts this author gives musk praise for pushing the adoption of electric cars but also damns him for over promising, manipulating markets, deceiving investors and shareholders and running THR company incompetently much of the time. Steely eyed look at Musk myth punctures Tesla hypeĮlon Musk may look like a futuristic wizard to his fans but in this book he comes off more as an untrustworthy grifter who makes promises he can not keep that at times put his investors and customers in a dangerous position. In Ludicrous, journalist and auto industry analyst Edward Niedermeyer lays bare the disconnect between the popular perception of Tesla and the day-to-day realities of the company - and the cars it produces. And Tesla's approach of continually focusing on the future, even as commitments and deadlines are repeatedly missed, may ultimately test the patience of all but its most devoted fans. While most car manufacturers struggle with the razor-thin margins of mid-priced sedans, Tesla's strategy requires that the Model 3 finally bring it to profitability, even as the high-priced Roadster and Model S both lost money.

Tesla's commitment to innovation has led it to reject the careful, zero-defects approach of other car manufacturers, even as it struggles to mass-produce cars reliably, and with minimal defects. But behind the hype, Tesla has some serious deficiencies that raise questions about its sky-high valuation, and even its ultimate survival. The company's market valuation now rivals that of long-established automakers, and, to many industry observers, Tesla is defining the future of the industry. Tesla Motors and CEO Elon Musk have become household names, shaking up the staid auto industry by creating a set of innovative electric vehicles that have wowed the marketplace and defied conventional wisdom.
